“Me pregunté cómo lograr un nivel de análisis con un rigor mínimo para estudiar los principales problemas que el marxismo desentraña y que otros autores en las ciencias sociales de nuestros días no plantean. Uno de los aportes principales,
no sólo en la historia de las ciencias sociales sino en la historia de la filosofía, es el que hace Marx al darle a la explotación un carácter central en el estudio de los seres humanos y de las sociedades humanas. En toda la historia de la filosofía nunca se le dio a la explotación la importancia que él le dio, no sólo en su vida política y filosófica sino en su vida científica. Tanto Marx como Engels lucharon en muchos terrenos y en sus discursos se advierten las diferencias del público al que se dirigen, el recurso a la retórica como forma de persuasión.A mí me han interesado las luchas científicas, descartando las demás y pensando que muchas veces es perfectamente legítimo decir que algo va a pasar para animar a quienes están escuchándolo a uno, desanimados y temerososde la situación”.
"I asked myself how to achieve a degree of analysis with a minimal accuracy to study the main problems unearthed by Marxism which are not brought up by other authors of social sciences of our days. One of the main contributions, not only in the history of social sciences but in the history of philosophy, is the one Marx himself does by giving exploitation a central role in the study of human beings and societies. Throughout the history of philosophy exploitation was never given the importance he gave to it, not only in his political and philosophical life but also in his scientific life. Both Marx and Engels fought in many fields and in their speeches the differences in the audiences they address can benoticed, the resource of rhetoric as a way of persuasion. I have been interested in scientific discussions,leaving out the others and thinking that it is often perfectly legitimate to say that something will happen to encourage those who are listening, discouraged and fearful of the situation."
